The Wichita Falls Museum of Art has an outstanding collection focused on American art of the past and present. A majority of the collection is comprised of works on paper including original lithographs, etchings, mezzotints, drawings, watercolors, pastels, and photography. The Collection also includes paintings and sculptures.
The Museum's permanent collection includes artworks on paper by American artists ranging from a 1677 print by John Fostermarmar to major works by nineteenth and twentieth-century masters Jasper Johns, Jackson Pollock, Leonard Baskin, Andy Warhol, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt, John Sloan, and many other contemporary artists including Alice Briggs, Judy Youngblood, Mary McCleary, Ron Adams, among others.
A large majority of the art in the permanent collection was acquired from 1967 until 2005, prior to the merger of the Museum with Midwestern State University. Since 2010, the WFMA Collectors Circle, composed of Wichita Falls community members, has facilitated the acquisition of more than 80 artworks. Selections from the Museum's permanent collection are exhibited frequently in the Museum's galleries.
