Chris Pappan

Chris Pappan is an American Indian artist of Osage, Kaw, Cheyenne River Sioux, and mixed European heritage. His art reflects the dominant culture’s distorted perceptions of Native peoples while proclaiming that “we are still here!” 2011 winner of the prestigious Discovery Fellowship from the Southwestern Association of Indian Artists (SWAIA) and the Heard Museum’s Best of Class (paintings, drawings graphics, photography) at the Santa Fe Indian Market in 2010, received his degree from the Institute of American Indian Arts (Santa Fe) in 1992, and also studied at the Chicago Art Institute.
