Andrea Rich (October 31, 1954), born in Racine, Wisconsin, and based in Santa Cruz, California, is an internationally known wildlife printmaker who works in multiple color woodcut prints. Designed through careful observation, Rich’s prints portray her subjects in their natural environments and convey the personality and character of their species. Rich earned her BS from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater in 1975. Then she worked as a magazine illustrator, graphic designer, and a teacher at two California art schools from 1985-98. Rich has received commendations including the 2011 Metal of Excellence from the Artists for Conservation Foundation. Her work is held in collections such as the New York Public Library, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, and the American Museum of Wildlife Art in Minnesota.
